Hi
I'm finishing a room and I need some help for colors. I have the cheapo bruce parquet flooring, which has all types of colors in it but is basicly a medium brown. choosing a color is very difficult because of the texture and complexity of the floor, I was thinking the best choice would be a very light beig/tan with some dark wood accents I drew it up and it looks OK, but does anyone know what colors go best with the flooring, bright or cool, pastel or deep thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer!
I guess that you can play with a golden oak, and combine the trim just two or thee points darker
Other idea is a rich maple color with the trims a little lighter
Hope this help!

thaks for the reply,
I'll draw some sketches up but i played around with it on the computer and darker browns make the room look bland and the beigh/whites make it look a bit to empty, after playing with the hues it seems the best combo is to use an oppisite hue in color from the floor, but the lighter browns could work if i played around with lighting and accesories but since this room will have a theater projector that might not work since you would need less light and the bass would start to shake everything. I think I'll do something like this link

except a tad bit more blue since my flooring is more the buterscoth with less red. I wish there were more pics on the web with parquet floors in action, but people don't seem to like them.

I've never been a fan of white walls! What is the feeling you are going for in this room? That really makes the difference in my opinion. If you want the room to be warm and cozy, then I would go with a beige or brown -- maybe even a terra cotta? If your looking for a cool, airy - fresh feeling, I would stick with white or a pastel color palette. Remember that furniture, accessories and generally living in the room will add other colors and textures to the room, so the floors and walls will simply become background anyway! I hope I've helped! Good Luck!
