Anyone have any recommendations on getting rid of deer? They have absolutely wiped out my garden and plants around my house. Thanks

I've used a spray successfully for a couple years now. Had a horrible time with them and rabbits in the garden. Meijer's and Walmart carry some. They smell horrible after you apply them, but once they dry (10-15 min) you can't smell anything, but the animals sure do!
Can these products be named on this board?

Naming products is ok for recommendation and reference and discussion. Not for advertising.
Hope this helps.

I nailed me a DOE this morning with three rounds of Paintball from about 45 feet. I know I squeezed off about seven rounds, but I saw three hits. Maybe she'll remember where she got nailed, cuz she remembers where my extensive perennial beds are.
I declared war last weekend and spent 140 bucks on my new toy.
Other suggestions are fishing line, strung at about 1 and 1/2 feet high. I'm adding this in the woods.
I may lose but I'm gonna have fun,
fred

I've had very good results with Liquid Fence. Once a week spray, and no problems at all. I usually stop spraying the garden around the beginning of July, as it seems by then they don't bother it too much.
Hope this helps!

Landscaping a deer resistant yard reguires some knowledge of what plants deer do not prefer. Turn to Mother Nature for clues. Also, contact your local Dept. of Agriculture Extension Agent for a list of deer resistant plants. If you are trying to do vegetable gardening, you can do like my parents did and plant large enough gardens to accommodate you and all the animal pests. Or, you can encage the garden with wire mesh, creating a wire mesh greenhouse where pests cannot enter. This means placing wire deep enough into soil to prevent burrowing invaders and high enough to prevent those who can jump a fence. You must remember that the animals stalked this land before we did. We are the invaders, not they. There are commercial repellant products available, but research has mixed results on effectiveness.

I would like to thank everyone for the suggestions. I was told by another friend that deer scram worked well, so I looked into it. The site, http://www.nomoredeer.com/, gave me a lot of good info on the product and what it does. I just purchased the smallest amount to try it out today and if it works I will be buying a lot more. I will get back to everyone tell how it works.
