My wife tells me that our 60 yr old cast iron tub is difficult to keep clean. It cleans up with scouring pad and cleanser but gets dirty-looking fast and is dull. She thinks maybe the surface has worn off. Can this happen? Is there a way to refinish it, or is it better to just replace it?

It can be refinished and I have seen several that have been. I would recommend a pro to do this although there are refinishing kits available. Ckeck the pros references carefully.
