When I first stain this piece of pine furniture I used a really dark stain. Almost black in color. I then painted it a few times. Well now I'm trying to refinish it. I can get all the paint stripped from it but there's that dark stain left.
I really want to get the dark out of the wood. Of course I didn't seal the wood before I stained it. What can I do to get it out? I'm hoping sanding might take some of it but there are place a belt sander won't fit.
Is there a bleach I can use? I've even thought about using good old clorex and seeing what happens.

Another pass with the paint stripper and a stiff brush should take out most of the stain. You might try oxalic acid, but generally it is for lightening the wood, not removing stain.

I'll try the wire bush and see if it helps.
Where do I get oxalic acid at? I've need heard of it before.

I thought I hada posted this but I don't see it. I found this great stuff at Lowe's by Flood called Stain Stripper for decks. It's the best thing. You put it on and use a brush (paint and scrub) and it works the stain out. Then you wash it off. It took 98% of the black stain out. Ot was a lifesaver. I just love it.
It was messy. The black was like liquid tar and you'd have to do it outside but it was worth it. I have the bottom cabinet sstain and ready to poly. It wouldn't have happened without this stuff.
