I have the same 1986 four winns with a 170 merc. I/O with a alpha one outdrive. when running it out of the water with a garden hose hook up, i notice a large amount of oil in the water discharge in the driveway. i have checked the engine oil, and the drain/refill plug on the bottom of the outdrive, and neither shows signs of water contamination. any ideas??
Also, when shifting into reverse, the drive make a grinding noise when engaging. please dont tell me it is going to be expensive, and is it safe to use?
