I have a ryobi gas trimmer that won't start..not getting a spark..was told it could be the coil in the ignition switch. About 50-60 bucks.Is this worth repairing or should I get another one.This weedtrimmer is only 3 years old, but have heard ryobis aren't made to last long.

I agree with your final statement, lol.
The coil may be the problem, but here is how to check whether the switch is bad, or the coil. Remove the covers necessary to gain access to the coil. Unplug the small wire plugged onto it. Check for spark with that wire disconnected. If you have spark, the wire you removed is shorted to ground by either a defective kill switch, or a chaffed spot on the wire insulation.

My straight shaft Ryobi weed whacker/brush cutter is about ten years old and still going strong. I'd buy another one.
