Hi, I just had a question. What is the best way about going to build this project of mine? I've attched a picture of it to this posting. It's basically a 2x3 with a dowel for arms, a round wood disk for the bottom and for the head.

Can you please tell me,

Should I drill a hole through the 2x3 and slide a thick dowel through it or should I just drill it part way, stick it in and glue it? How thick of a dowel will I need to hold kids coats? What do I need to attach the base and head so it will hold and be sturdy? Or how should I attach them?

Thanks

Basically what it is, is a 2x3 for the body of this stick man coat rack. About 3ft high. Using a dowel for the arms and a round wood base. Also a round wooden disk for the head.

Can't post pictures here. If you put it somewhere else and post a link, that will work.

Drill halfway, then set the dowel. 3/8" dowels should work, if not too long.

Dowels are not generally true size. That is, a 3/8" dowel is actually smaller. Drill bits that are the actual size of the dowels can be bought.
