Im setting up a new CPU the mother board does not support cabel select.

I cant get it to detect any IDE devices.

No matter how I set the jumper on the hard drive
all it tells me is. IDE drives installation error.
For best reliability&performance please change the
stand alone drive to master, System Halt...
This what I get nomater how I change any settings.

Don't use cable select. Set one as master the other as slave. Set the CDROM drive up as its own master. Set the BIOS to autodetect.

The owner's manual that came with the motherboard should show you how to set any jumpers to handle this.

Hope this helps.

Just a thought- Be sure that your boot drive is connected to the primary IDE contoller and not the secondary.
