Hi. I picked up an old wooden high chair that I've just begun to refinish. What finish was on there has basically worn off and I am dealing with an extremely dry wood.

I began to sand the piece and have noticed that there is a grayish color to the wood which doesn't seem to want to be sanded off. The color isn't uniform either, splotchy sorta. Boy doesn't THAT sound like I know what I'm talking about! LOL

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like normal coloration or discoloration of wood. Wood is a natural product giving natural results.
