Sony 32” K-32TW75 Manufactured April 1992

I know it’s an oldie but it has had a very sharp, clear, vivid color picture until today. While watching for about an hour it suddenly began giving only a black and white picture. I called our cable provider but they said there were no problems on my line. I disconnected the cable from their box to bypass it, and placed it directly into the TV form the street, but I was still getting black and white on all channels.
I pushed the TV back against the wall and when I turned it on I got my normal, perfect color picture. It lasted for only about 4 minutes and went back to b&w. I know that if the picture tube is shot it is not worth the expense to repair, but my experience with failing tubes is that the color gradually fades out over time. I have had a lot of experience with electronics and have found loose solder joints and such in other appliances. I am planning to open the back and see if there is anything within my scope of knowledge. If I don’t find anything, do you think I should go to through the expense of having a technician check it out or should I just discard the set and buy a new one?

Does it work normally using video inputs? If so then it's probably the tuner. Bad connections.
