What's better? A deck anchered by poured concrete or a floating deck? I'm guessing the floating deck would be easier and faster with a little less cost. The deck is only approx. 10' x 22'.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Geeman, I'm not sure I'm following exactly what you are asking. When you say "floating" and "anchored", are you talking about the difference between making it freestanding and attaching it to the wall of house; or the difference between putting in footings under the posts or leaving them out?

If you are referring to the first, you are asking another question like 'which came first, the chicken or the egg?' There is no "right" answer that works 100% of the time. If I have a choice between attached and freestanding, I will install the deck freestanding everytime. But there are times when that simply isn't the best way.

However, if you are asking about installing footings or leaving them out, HOW would you build a deck without footings???
