I'm building a bookcase with pine and since i'm not a carpenter i use filler not a lot but some. the question is why is it that the wood filler says (It is stainable) But when i stain over the filler it won't take stain. Even with 4 or 5 coats. What can i do to the stain or filler to take stain, if anything. :)

Thank you for your help. I'm sorry you got the wrong idea. the bookcase has not yet been stained. The filler I used was the same color as the pine, what i did was stain a small piece of pine and tried to stain it befor i stained the whole bookcase. i will try and do what you suggested and see if it takes.
When i tried the stain on the piece of pine. the stain didn't take. it stayed the same color but the pine stained. i tried 3 or 4 times to stain the filler and i finally had to take a furniture color pencil to the stain..
