have an ugly red brick fireplace in the basement i plan to finish. someone told me that i could use ceramic tile over the brick?!? is this possible? is it fireproof? what do i put on the brick to get the tile to stick?? any advice or other suggestions appreciated. limited budget. limited workers (my mother and i) two women =)

i would imagine if you have a clean surface then any good mastic would be ok to hold the tile in place. i doubt if the heat from the fire would get the outside of the bricks hot enough to do any damage or have any effect on the tile. when/where you purchase your tile from should be able to give you exact specs. hope this helped.
