I would like to change the look of my front door/patio area. It is curently a plain, boring cement slab. I'd like to redesign and am looking for ideas. I have a sidewalk (plain cement) that leads up to the patio/front door area and have taken out a flower box to the left of the sidewalk (and up against the house) that is now an empty spot (5x10 ft). My /'s are:
1- Would I have to tear out the old cement slab and sidewalk?
2- Who is best to contact to this sort of work?
3- any other ideas??

thanks

If the old slab and sidewalk are in good shape and can be worked into whatever you plan on doing for this area, then they can be left.

What are you thinking about doing? A deck instead of the slab? Maybe a cover over the existing slab after you concrete in the spot left by the flower box? A solid cover? A lattice cover? Maybe some of each?
