When I put a B&S spark tester on my weed eaters and blowers I get a nice fat spark (with a 1/8" - 3/16" gap) from plug wire to ground, on every pull. However, when I connect the new spark plug from plug wire to ground, I get only a measly small spark. Apparently, it is good enough for it runs the engine fine. Dose anyone know why this happens.

You might need to clean and regap the plug.

Spark plugs have internal resistors. They can change the appearance of the spark. Also the gap on a spark plug is usually smaller than the gap on testers. This makes a smaller spark too.

Thanks Cheese...Is a DJ7Y Champion the same as a RDJ7Y, without the resistor?

Yes, the first R in a Champion plug number denotes resistor.

Not to but in, but, what is the purpose of the resistor in the plug. Is there an advantage with using a plug with a resistor?

It is supposed to reduce electrical interferrence.
