I've got a Daewoo 27" TV that displays only a bright horizontal line (but sound works ok).

Model # DTQ - 26SIFC
Chassis # CN - 200I

I've checked the yoke for shorts or open circuit but it seems fine, I replaced the vertical scanning ic with no luck.

Could anyone please help me out as what I should try to do to repair it? Thanks

well, you're on the right track, but the only way to figure something like this is to get a set of schematics and scope the vertical deflection to see what's dead or out of spec. You can sorta get by with a voltmeter, but you won't be able to see much other than static signal levels.

You'll want to limit the time while debugging with a bright line going across the front, else you'll end up with a permanent phosphor burn mark. Turn down the brightness/contrast as much as you can and/or switch to an input with no signal.

throwing parts at it won't necessarily fix it though...no matter who says what unless you know those components are indeed bad .

Is there any place on the net that I could possibly download the schematics or service manual? Daewoo's site won't let me get the service manual cause I ain't a service man :( .

I'm curious if anyone else who's reading this forum had any dealings with Daewoo tv sets. This one that I have was already serviced once before when it was still under warantee (for shifted picture) so I am questioning the quality of Daewoo's products.

Look for some posts by Teratum in this forum. He's got a couple of references to places that sell schematics. I bought a set from servicemanuals.net recently (2 months ago). Not sure if I want to recommend them since the copy I got was a copy of someone's copy that had handwritten notes all over it! OTOH, they delivered within 3 days and I had no hassles, and I fixed my problem.

dunno about that daewoo site. who's going to prove you're not a service man? ;-) you can be anything anytime. LOL!

you can try posting the same question out in sci.electronics.repair newsgroup for more exposure. There's a ton of folks out there who might have some experience on your set also... I notice there are a bunch of repair techs who contribute in there as well.

there's also an excellent tv repair FAQ there as well... google for sci.electronics.repair faq and there should be a link to the tv stuff. Check it out..
