I have a STIHL brushcutter FS80 that is about 15 years old. Couldn't get to start. Found bad diaphragm and replaced it. Now after it starts I can't get it to accelerate without dying. Strangely, if I cover the air filter air intake holes with tape I can accelerate it but it still don't run good. I have tried to adjust the carb. with no luck. Can anyone give me an idea what the problem is?

Sounds like the engine is leaning out. Check your fuel filter, lines, and carb screen. Also make sure the carb is cleaned out well.
