Gas and Oil Home Heating Furnaces - AC Fan motor not working

I just put in a new air filter for my AC. But low and behold hot air comes through ducts. So I step outside to look at the unit and I noticed the fan motor isn't spinning. I don't have a heat pump just the standard central heating and air unit. Any suggestions? Could it be the compressor too?

Is anything running outside? Have you checked the circuit breaker?

hmmm dont' know what you mean about outside and don't know about circuit breakers. All I know is there is nothing running now where at the unit outside. The fan is not spinning. Only thing i hear is the AC running inside when i turn on the thermostat but only warm air comes throught the duck

examine the small wire going to the outdoor unit for breaks. put your ear to the side of the o/d unit..do you hear a hum? the circuit breaker is in an electrical panel in the home. unfortunately you may need a tech.

okay, this morning i decided to take the previous person's suggestion again by trying to listen to the o/d box. Since i live in a condominium, my neighbors unit is next to mine and his o/d unit was turned off. I turned on my AC and darn it !!... the fan started to run and the AC worked. Maybe I need to have my fuses and the relay checked by a technician after all. Thanks for the replies but I am going to have a service mancome check this old baby over... Oklahoma summer is a real cooker. I leaving baby on till it croaks!!!
