Hi,
I plan on expanding my kitchen to a 20' x 24' size. I have baseboard radiators fueled by oil.
I imagine for all rooms in a house there are norms for how much linear feet of radiators you need to meet code. My question is, because the kitchen design I am contemplating will leave a small ratio of wall space to floor surface area, are there special considerations allowed for kitchens? For example, between the cabinets, double-french doors, pantry, doors to the adjacent family room, dining room, office and basement, etc., there just isn't a whole lot of contiguous wall surface to place baseboards. In my design, I would only have a 10' section on one wall, plus an 8' section on another wall, then a 4' section.
Secondarily, is there an alternative to baseboard radiators that work with my existing oil-based system? Also, can radiators be concealed at the bottom of the island I plan on constructing?
Thanks!

After you come up with your heat load there there are a lot of ways to get the heat in the room. You can think about, there are wall and kickspace heaters that will fit under the cabnets and also in-floor heaters that you can use with the boiler you have now.;) ED
