someone that i spoke to said the fuse/fuses could be blown in the unit is this possible and where are they located

to my knowledge there will be no fuses in the unit, possibly in the disconnect switch however. unfortunately this is not the problem. a blown fuse will open a circuit, not short it. are you electrically inclined whatsoever? it would be possible to disconnect the wires going to the compressor from the contactor and try it. it it trips, it is not the compressor, and i woul;d look elsewhere. did you check the compressor terminals? please respond within the same thread, as others may not see your other post and ask questions already answered.
