The blower quit working on my heat pump. The condenser and thermostat seem to be working fine but nothing comes through the vents. I am afraid of the cost of getting it repaired. Any tips on how I might be able to fix it myself or how much a new one would cost?

it is not running? many times the indoor coil will freeze up and cause no air from the vents

Actually, no, I'm NOT sure. I just know that everything seems to be working fine but nothing comes out of the vents. AND I don't hear the unit in the attic (I usually hear it easily). I went up there but couldn't see any ice on the coils. It's been off for over 2 weeks now. Wouldn't that be enough time for the ice to clear up if it was there?

Is the power to the indoor section on? If it is, turn it off and touch the motor. If it's hot, there is probably something wrong with the motor or the capacitor. If it's cold, you're not getting power to the motor which could be a bad fan relay. Let us know what you find.

I'll get up there tomorrow and check that out. Let me ask you.......when I opened up the front of the unit I noticed 2 fuses...they were huge (compared to those you usually see in electronic equipment) but where you would normally see glass they were covered up so I couldn't see if they were intact. Any comments?

The fuses are probably for the electric strip heaters in the unit, but it can't hurt to check them anyway. There might be some smaller fuses for the fan motor.

OK.....I turned the unit on and waited a while. I went up to the attic and found that the blower motor seemed to be running. I pulled the cover off and could feel the air being sucked in but nothing is coming thru my vents. The unit outside comes on fine and the thermostat seems to be working correctly....What now??

OK....now I'm thoroughly confused. I turned the unit on again and lo and behold! I have cool air coming thru my vents. Dunno what happened and I don't really care at this point. I HAVE COOLING!! Thanks for all your help!:D
