We have tried twice to remove the old worn black lacquer finish on a Baker Campaign Chest. The black remains although dull and ruined.
How many times do we apply stripper? What else can we do?
I believe there is teak beneath the black.
Any advice appreciated. BK

Pour some of the lacquer stripper into a pan and apply with paint brush that has unpainted handle. Apply the stripper liberally with the brush and let it sit a while to soften the finish. You can test to see if lacquer is softening by touching finish with brush to see if it moves. Once it has softened, it can be wiped off with paper towels. If it needs help, use #00 steel wool, rubbing gently with the grain. If you use steel wool, use it equally all over the piece. When finished, use lacquer thinner and #0000 steel woold and paper towels or soft cloth to remove all residue.
