Help! I bought a house with a brick fireplace that has an Elmire stoveworks model 1400 insert. The brick fireplace is pulling away from the wall and has damaged the plaster around it. It has pulled the plaster about an inch away from the studs. I cannot get any of the local masons to even return my phone calls - apparently job is too small. Is the insert the cause of the problem? Should I remove it? How can I attach the brick to the wall?
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

jleslie,
You will have to have a licensed installer or masory contractor out to look at this. Contact you local brick/block supplier for more names or your local building inspector for references.
Good Luck!
