My girlfriend has a huge wisteria vine and I would like to know how to get a start off it.....

Wisteria makes plenty of seeds, but you don't want that. Here is a link to plenty of information about wisteria, its care and feeding. It recommends buying a plant, unless you want to wait years for a young plant to start to bloom.
