I'm thinking of turning my garden bathtub into a jacuzzi tub. A guy said the parts would cost roughly $700.00. Is that close?

Also......a question regarding cleanliness. Is it a health issue that water will remain in the lines until the next bath? How does anyone who has one like it? What maintenance would I be looking at? Thanks.....

Hi Linda:

$700 sounds like way too much for what you plan to do. We just installed one of these in our bathroom and the entire tub cost around $500 Canadian. If you're in the US, you should be able to purchase a whirlpool style tub for about $3-400. However, this means removing your old tub and installing a new one.

The water in the lines is not an issue. The unit we purchased has the feed lines above the inlet and jets. This way, the water drains out of the lines when the tub is emptied.

The only thing I would be cautious about is using any kind of soap in the tub while the pump is running. Over time, this could build up in the lines and motor. However, I'm talking about a 7-10 year period if the tub is used every day.

Not much of a bath person myself, but my wife absolutely LOVES the tub.
