I am trying to reseal my bath tub but the how do I get a smooth surface when I flatten it off. Any helpful hints?

Are you talking about caulking the edges when you say reseal the tub. If so use a tub and tile caulk and cut the end of the tub to match the width of the gap between the tile or whatever surface meets the wall. Of course this is assuming you cleaned all the old caulk out first. If not then getting a good clean even look will be hard. Plus I doubt the caulk will stick for long. Anyway,just run the end of the caulk along where the tub meets the walls while gently squeezing an even amount along the wall. Keep a wet damp rag so you can run your wet cold clean finger over the caulk you just applied. Keep wetting and wiping your finger until even. Then use the damp towel to clean up any excess.
