i have a 2 yr old trinitron model KV-32s66 that gets a small green spot in the upper right corner for a few weeks and then the tv will no longer turn on. had it repaired once before and was told that a carbon build up on the CRT module shorted the part out....how can i prevent this before the board shorts out again...and is there a repair manual avail for this particular tv

When you say the set will no longer turn on. Do you mean the set is stone cold dead or does the power light flash? Is there any sound coming from the inside of the set when you press the button?

when yoy try to turn the set on the red light blinks and the pic turns on for a second and then goes to a small pin point in the center of the screen and then nothing (set turns off). i could believe the whole carbon build up thing once but how can it keep getting a carbon build up causing a short in the CRT module. would seem to me that once it was cleaned there is nothing to produce more carbon in the set, so why the build up again

At the time the pic comes on. Does it have "retrace lines"? Does it have a red, green, blue, or bright white appearance to it? Check our website for pics. When it turns off do you have to press the power button twice a few seconds apart to get the set to turn back on again?

Just want to mention that the carbon build up and short the parts out as explained by your previous repair man does not make any senses. This is not a copy machine, where does carbon come from? In my 30 years of repairing various electronic circuits, I have not yet seen a carbon build up, especially short out components! I don't think your previous repair man is credible and honest.

i figured there would be nothing that would cause carbon build up in the tv since there is no carbon producing elements inside it. Where is nothing that matches the images in the "symptom" categories. TV gets a green spot in the upper right hand cornere that gets a bit lager (about 1/5th of screen) before the tv quits out. Once it quits out and will not power on, there is nothing that will get it back. You can turn it on and get a pic for about 1 sec and then the unit shuts off by it's self, but the red "stand by" light on the front will stay lit. Is there anyone out there who has seen this problem before or might have even the slightest idea of what is going on with this set. I am tired of the same $125.00 to replace what was explained to me as a "video card for your tv", i think it was called the CRT module. If any of this is correct please tell me. Called the repair shop to ask what exactly the tech did to fix it and was told that they did not keep repair records on the set and could not remember what he did to repair it, "since I work on so many people's stuff"
