My house is 40 years old and so is the tile. I belive it's stuck to drywall. I heard something about heating the tile up and it should just pop off. I would like to replace the existing tiled area with new tile. Any advice?

It is possible to refinish tile with a color of your preference if you do not want to replace it. If you are interested I can tell you how. However, if you are interested in tearing it out then I would suggest you just score the tile with a glass cutter and just hit it with a hammer and chisel it out. It's slow going but you maybe able to keep from tearing up the wall too bad.
