Does anyone know of a way to cover ceramic tile in a tub surround. The tile in my bathroom is OK except for in the tub are. I would like to cover the tub area with another product (ie, marble look, etc..) but leave the rest of the room alone. The area is sectioned off in an alcove with tub doors.

Hi,
In response to covering the tile. There is a product on the market which can make your tile look like a multi-colored granite. You can also coat the tile with an acrylic urethane finish in a solid color. Since it is a vertical surface the coatings will last 20 years if properly applied. Clean the tile using a scotch brite pad and TSP. can be purchased at any hardware store. Then use a mild acidic cleaner. Now apply a product known as glass etching cream. ARMOUR ETCH is a brand i like and can be found at any hobby store. The etching cream will safely degloss the surface. Rinse with baking soda and water to neutralize the surface. Then you can spray an epoxy primer on using a rented spray gun known as a HVLP. Let dry a few hours then
Spray a two component urethane color of your choice. These are basic steps. email me for detailed instructions.
