Thanks to More than a Carpenter for the advice on the water draining out of the tub. I pulled lever out as instructed and attempted to shorten the arm but now the lever is loose and the water still drains out. HELP!

You need to lengthen the arm so that the plug at the end of the rod drops down into the drain pipe.
