Our house is 8 yrs old. The drywall appears to be separating from the ceiling. We have bought 2 types of tape; paper and then a woven cloth like tape. We use thejoint compound and all goes good for a while and then it opens up again. At one time, the gap was about 1/2" in one area. I want to wall paper the bathroom but am leary because of this problem. The bathroom is currently painted with the original builders flat paint. Any ideas and help will be greatly appreciated. The drywall is not doing this anywhere else in our house.

Before I comment or offer advice, can you tell us where the gap appears. Is it in a corner, or the middle of the room?

One of the walls is about 7'wide. The separation begins in the corner and runs about 5 feet and is a very small gap more like a crack.

The other wall separtes the tub from the door. It is only about 6-7 inches wide and is cracked all the way across and slightly around one side. This is the wall that separates a lot. Thanks.
