Can I put Ceramic Tile on top of existing linoleum? I was told that I could as long as it was not pulling up anywhere and if I roughed it up????

Thanks

As long as it isn't a cushioned variety, you might get away with putting cbu over it & setting your tile.

But the first thing to look at in switching to tile is joist spacing & size, and subfloor. Tile needs at least 1-1/4" , typically accomplished with 2 layers of 5/8" exterior grade plywood. But the info on the joist is crucial, to ensure the floor will hold the load of a tile installation.

another thing to consider, hey dell, is the hieght factor, doors have to be cut ,fridge, where it joins the carpet etc.Alot of people opt for 1/4 durock but i dont like to it's too flimsey for me
