While I was mowing my lawn yesterday I noticed that all my plants look like they are dieing. I have two red maples that I planted a month or so ago but the leaves are yellow-green and some have brown spots. Also, several burning bushes planted 1.5 years ago are doing the same thing. I have very hard clay soil and it has rained a ton. Could they just be overwatered? I have not sprayed any chemicals or anything this year. Any ideas?

When it rains, does the water puddle around the bases of these plants? If water does not drain readily from the base, the plants can drown from saturated soil. Clay holds water quite well.
