I recently did 2 additions to my mobile home that serves as a hunting camp.

The first addition was added near the middle of the trailer. The trailer sits on a concrete slab. What we had to do was make the addition free-standing using concrete pier and steel beam construction. The room is sunk about one step down from the rest of the trailer. This was done so that we could have adequate slope for the roof and not have to lower the wall height in the addition.

Tieing it into the trailer is not a bad job. What your'e going to have to do is essentially rip an entryway through the side of the trailer into the new addition. Tie the walls of the addition into the existing trailer walls. To do the roof, what we did was start the addition roof at the lowest part of the existing trailer roof. Use flashing and roof sealant to make a water-tight seal where the two roofs will meet. Make sure you angle the addition for the roof properly so water slopes away from the existing trailer.

We used Tin for he new roof and siding.

Depends on what the State will ALLOW you to do. Around here, you have to build the room(s) essentially freestanding and use flashing to seal between the mobile and the addition. Outside, you can cover the flashing with trim so it looks like the room is attached. Inside, you cover the joints with trim. And CA has a complete set of preapproved plans for building the room. Follow their plans and you get the permit "over the counter". Deviate from their plans and you wait 6 to 8 weeks for them to approve the project.
