I have some coving I tried to match. The new replacement coving is not wood like the existing molding. But has the same form, It has 1/4" Suared off pieces with a concaved . My problem is at what angle do I make my cuts for a corner in and outs, I have a Mitre saw I did a cut at at 45? As far as I could tell there is another angle or two to cut defore it fits properly. Please help!
Thank You

Is this like crown molding because if it is this can get ugly. If I am hearing you correctly there are actually two different angles involved (in crown molding). One is 45 degrees and the other is 22.5 degrees. but there is more to it than that. All molding is not the same. The run is different. What I mean by that is the part against the ceiling is so wide and the part against the wall is so wide. They are not necessarily the same. If I confused you it is because it can be confusing. There was a chart that came with my Delta Compound miter saw that explained all this and showed the different angles for the different runs. It also matters if it is an inside corner or outside.

this should do it for you WATCH THE WAY IT SITS it is upside down for the cut
just as a note a 8 1/4 compound will NOT cut a 5" moulding

good luck re post efforts
