I have a problem with a Big Screen Phillips Magnavox projection TV. This is a 60" Model 9P6040-C101.

It has an intermittent high frequency whistle. It's not in the sound because you can mute the sound and it is still there. It may play for hours without the problem and then it will start and will continue for an extended period.

This is very irritating and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have a component in the horizontal circuit resonating. If you take the back off and wait for the part to start squealing. touch the parts one at a time with a "NON METALIC" probe of some sort. If you hit the right one it will shut up. Then use silicone RTV sealant to glue that part to the board.
