My Mitsubishi picture comes and goes! It is a 1991 model with no SMD (PIP) components. All thru hole! When you turn it on sometimes the picture is there, but after a while it turns black and after a while it may come back! Any ideas? Thnks!

Your tv set seems to lose video signal momentarily . This may due to loose components or solder joints in the video section of your TV. Try tapping the TV to see if you can make the picture disappear and reappear which confirm the assumption above.

I did find a high sink which when tapped appears to bring the video back! It is location in the high voltage area on the bottom board. I will need to remove it or resolder it! Let's see what happens! Thanks!

Losing HV can also cause the screen to black out. You can run this simple test to confirm which is which (losing video signal or losing HV?)

If you lose the HV, every time it comes back, it will charge up the screen which you can feel with the hairs back of your hand. You don't feel it, if you lose video (simply diff voltage level in video signal, black is 0V if I can remember it correctly.)

This way it will confirm or unconfirm theory of the heat sink around your HV area.
