I live in a split level home and want to relocate the door that goes from my garage into my downstair's family room. It is a fire door.
Must the door swing go from garage to the room ? Or must fire codes ahve the door go from the room to the garage ? The way it was was that the door swung from garage to the room and i would like it the other way do to space constraints on where i'm moving the door.

A true fire door swings out from the direction you are exiting. The code has different requirments based on occupancy that effect this issue. You can turn the door around so it opens out. The main requirements of a door between garage and living space is that it is solid core with the required fire rating and a selfclosing mechanism. So that the door can't be accidentally left open if the vehicle is running and the garage door is closed. Carbondioxide kills people each year from this.
