To clarify my question below...What type of layout or which direction should the grains go on hardwood stair landings? (where there is a break in stairs). There are three landing-type areas which are triangular in shape. Thanks.

The easiest way is in the same direction as the stair nose which goes in the same direction as front of stair. The flooring can go in any direction from the stair nose.
