Each manufacturer of laminate products tends to have its own specific installation instructions. Read and follow these carefully. Make sure you bought a product that can be installed directly to concrete. Whether or not the product can be refinished in the future, depends upon the thickness of the veneer layer. Typically, engineered wood products are made by placing a veneer layer over 3-5 plies of plywood. The more plies, the better. The thicker the veneer layer the better. Better products tend to have better warranties and cost more. Some of the less expensive floors have veneer over particle board or something made of sawdust. In better quality floors, the top layer is 1/8" or thicker of real wood.
