I need some advice on my room seperation paint dilema I have going on right now. I don't want to paint the dining room the same color as the hallway but as you can see in the attached pictures I painted the ceiling and I want to paint the ceiling in the dining room but not the same color. How to make a clean seperation is my question.
Thanks!

About the best, idea i can think of is a piece or wood trim. They make a piece that is about 1 1/4 inch wide and routered(tapered down) on each side it is only about an 1/8th of an inch thick,so it want hang down so low,and noticeable.
Your pics not there. If its a flat ceiling you can either cut it in striaght with a brush(well as stright as posible :D ) or may use some of the blue painters tape.Just paint one side abit over into the other room then tape striaght across and dry brush the edge a few times with the other rooms color. But the tape usealy pulls a little paint when removed. And will need to be patched and touched up.Id wait a few dyas for the first color to dry or it will pull even more paint off.
If its textured (most likely it is)with knock down or popcorn. It will not tape very well.Id use the trim piece. And maybe paint it to match you trim color.Sorry i dont no what they call this piece of trim but,it is used inbetween double exterrior doors,or the door frame and the side windows.Lowes or home depiot should have it.
