I'm installing a laminate over a hardwood floor in my bungalow by the beach in LA and have read that I'm not suppose to lay a moisture barrier over the hardwood just the foam. The manufacturer's instructions has no comment anywhere and my attempts at reaching them have failed. Anyone have an opinion or experience with this situation? Why wouldn't I lay a moisture barrier?

Thanks for the help.

If installing over existing hardwood floor, a vapor retarder should already be there. Following manufacturer's instructions carefully is important, so as not to void any warranties. If you have moisture problems, these should be addressed before you begin your installation.
