I have painted my baseboards a bright white and now need to paint the walls light brown. I've used masking tape in the past but the paint always manages to seep underneath and makes the job look sloppy. What am I doing wrong and is there a special roller I can use (I've seen them on TV) that does a professional job so I don't have to mask off the baseboards?

Just get a top quality angled trim brush and cut a line along the wall at the base. Practice makes better. The only time I use tape if for spraying.

Hope this helps.

Dont buy the blue tape!!! It will not leave a staright clean edge. Also dont used the painters tape called Clean Edge,it want stick!!!

Walmart has masking tape pretty cheap. And it just so happens to work the best.Look for the whiter colored tape(it has a green label) the yellow is thicker and will stick to tight, and tear when you try to pull it..Anyway when you get a section mask off. Then rub it gently with a smooth metal object.(i use a painters tool)A butter knife or maby a spoon would work. You must pull any masking tape withing about 24hrs or it will harden and make removeing a real pain.I recomend 1/2 wide tape the wider is harder to pull in a straight line. When you get it mask off,cut it in with a brush. Then roll down to the cut in.Careful not to soak the tape to much or it will run behind it,in places.

I used to work for a guy that couldnt cut in.(but called himself a painter) :D
