I tried to take the paper off and it is just toooooo much work! I wondered if I could use paint with sand mixed in it. I think I saw something like that on the home & garden show on TV once. Has anyone heard of it?
I tried sanding and spackling and things like that; now I'm desperate. Strips of molding to cover every seam. How would that be? Probably look like I was in a prison cell. Ideas anyone?

Texture would cover everything. This includes texture paint.
Sorry you could not get the wallpaper off. It can be a battle.
