My sister and I are working on a craft project where we've painted wooden Dr Scholl's sandals with acrylics. We need to SEAL them with, we were told, an oil-based wood sealer. It must be CLEAR; durable (we really are going to WEAR them, they aren't a decoration).
Can somebody please recommend a brand? How many coats, how long to dry? I am assuming we need oil-based because we actually want to wear these shoes. help! The paint is on, they are wonderful, but now we need to seal 'em!
Thank you

There are exterior grade water-based polyurethanes. A clear, nonyellowing polyurethane would be preferred for your project. I would think 3 coats minimum would do the job. Note: I have never done such a project.
