We have a 1940 house with an addon at the kitchen. Between the two there is a very slight rise. The vinyl was professionally layed, but not very well. The rise is still noticeable - slightly. I would like to put in hardwood flooring and was considering a floating floor. Would this be a good option to overcome the rise, or would it be just another coverup? Also, can I even put a floating floor over existing vinyl? Thank you for any help. Jamie

There's a saying in the flooring business..... your new floor covering will only be as good as the subfloor. Or in this case what will be under the new. Repair it if you want a problem free floor. Yes, you can float over a vinyl floor.
