Hi,

I am trying to install a full in my basement. In my basement, I have three rough-ins. When I talked to people at Home Depot, the said you need to locate a pipe venerate air. Is there such pipe in the basement? If so, how can I locate it?

Thanks.

what they're talking about are the vent pipes.
The vents should have been installed when they roughed in the drain connections. Vents are required on all fixtures after the traps (toielts have built in traps).
Go to this site for illustrations of bathroom plumbing or do a Search above.

Thanks for the reply. But is there a way that I can verify that the vent pipe is installed with the rough-in? Keep in mind that the rough-in is located in the basement.

qhang,

What OldGuy gave you would be similar to the basement location. If the rough-in is within 5 feet to the main 3" line, no vent is required but if there are further away, you should see a 2" line coming out of the concrete which would go up and either tie into the 3" or it disappears and continues up into the attic to tie into the roof vent stack.

You may want to post this question in the Repair Forum under Plumbing for further advice.

Good Luck!
