Can anyone suggest a method for removing dark pet stains off of my otherwise beautiful golden oak flooring....The stains are apparently the result of wetting on a rug, then not noticed in time, or dealt with properly.....Have tried a mild bleach solution, but no help.

For severe pet stains removal of affected boards will give permanent results. Minor pet stains can be sanded to be made lighter or removed. Usually, deeper stains won't sand out. If you plan on refinishing the floor, sometimes staining the floor with a medium colored stain minimizes the pet stains. Painting a design on the floor or covering with an area rug will also hide stains.
