HI I have a asphalt driveway that is starting to show its age.It has started to deteriate away at the edges and has many many cracks. My driveway is about 75 feet long and about a standard width.I was thinking about trucking out a load of asphalt, getting about ten of my friends to help and spead a couple inch layer of asphat on my driveway.Preperably on a good hot day. Then renting a tamper and tamping it down.
Does this sound like this would work?Would the asphalt stick the bottom of the tamper. How much does asphalt cost?
I do construction for a living and have done alot of concrete work but have never worked with asphalt. Is there diffrent types of asphalt?Thany You

Without a good binder and steamroller, there would be poor adhesion between the new and old courses. Also, normal asphalt needs to be at least 1 1/2", which could be a problem at your sidewalk and/or curb apron and at the grarage door. You really will get a lot more life out of a completely new driveway.
