what do you think about using tung oil on an oak floor?

i am thinking about using tung oil after i have stained the floor with an oil based stain.

will be sanding the floor tomorrow.

i would like to stain tomorrow and wait a day to apply the tung oil.

would i be able to apply poly if i change my mind in a few weeks?

we are older so the stress level for the floor will be considerable less.

tks for your responses.

pre-apologies if you have answered this question previously.

thank you

leewaytoo,
Pure tung oil is really not a very good protective finish for a floor.
Unless the container says 100% pure tung oil it is probably a mix with some polyurethane anyway.
Change your mind up front, and go with a quality polyurethane in your choice of sheen: gloss, semi, or satin.
